The History of Action Plastics Incorporated
In 1965, John Foss started his career in plastics as a process technician. After working for a number of other molders, and being uninspired by their lack of vision and customer service, he risked everything and founded Action Plastics in the spring of 1981.
Originally located in a multiple tenant building in New Hope, Minnesota with 4 used molding machines, John's focus on excellent customer service quickly paid off. API soon expanded into two bays with 7 molding machines.
In 1982, John's oldest son (and current API President) Dave joined the company and helped it grow even further. By 1985, expansion was needed again, and API moved to its current facility in Rogers, Minnesota.
In the mid-90's, with 15 years of mold making and engineering
experience, youngest son (and current Vice President) Dan joined API to expand its tooling and engineering service capabilities. Several additions later, API currently has 28 molding machines, in-house tooling, and value added services in its 30,000 square foot facility.
In late 2005, although compliant for many years, Action Plastics received its official ISO certification. In January 2006, API remodeled its quality lab and added a state of the art Vision system to expand its measurement capabilities and help surpass customer quality expectations.
In recent years, Dave and Dan purchased API from John who is now semi-retired and works at API part time as a consultant. To this day, excellent customer service is still API's main focus.
